cpu Intel I5

Hi,

 

I am currently visiting New Zealand and I am looking to buy an I5 as an upgrade (I will probably upgrade my GPU soon). I am a visitor so I can claim back VAT at the airport. I an trying to decide between the 7600 and the 7600k, I don't have a Z170 or Z270 chistet (It's a old B150M), so I can't overclock but I would be future-proofing.

Hey man, first off welcome, I moved here two months back  

Second, if you not going to buy the Z MB you not future proofing anything. its the same processor just one can go faster one can't its the same tech inside it. 

 

Better off going for the 7600 and put that left over money into savings for a GPU upgrade when the time comes.

That's what I was thinking, but does the 7600K give a stock performance boost over the 7600? It shows so on the intel website

Yes but not worth the extra price and a 7600k has no stock cooler so more cost too

I already have a cooler and I am looking to upgrade my Mobo in the next year

Either go K w/ Z-board or non-K w/o Z-board. Don't buy a K CPU unless it's on sale for lower than the non-K if you're not buying a Z-board.

To which mobo? If a z170 or z270 it could do. Does your b150 support kaby lake?

Yes my B150 supports Kaby Lake, if I update the BIOS

Do you have a cpu to updtae? Because if you don't you are screwed. You need a 6th gen specifically or if you can ask a store to do it for you

Thanks for all the Help. It's just a shame the Pound is so weak in NZ (I am from the UK) but is is still cheaper in NZ, and I can claim back tax on it.

if youre flying back to UK wouldnt it be cheaper to stop off at an asain country? Your still going to pay 15% GST

Yeah, just realises that. We are stopping off in SIngapore but they only give you 7% back
