I'm building my first pc ever and got this build a couple months ago. I haven't started ordering anything yet because I need to hear some other thoughts on it. I'm going to be using this for gaming as well as animating and rendering videos for YouTube. I just need to know a few things like what isn't recommended to buy used? As well as what I can cut down in cost that won't cut down much in performance? The link to it is here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Kookoobooty27/saved/rRXbvK. Tell me what you think.

Since you're animating/rendering I'd recommend switching to Ryzen.

That said, if you wanna be true blue, the whole thing holds up pretty well, though maybe you should opt for a nicer air cooler instead of your current Enermax Liqmax, as it only has a 120mm rad.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

1060 g1 suffers from. Coil whine a lot. It's not luck it's now common

I would get ryzen as my friend stated or get an i7 instead

Get seasonic s12ii cheaper

Cheaper monitor with at least IPS

Get a 480 instead of a 1060.  You get more longevity, marginally higher performance in most games, and compute tasks are overall similar.  Also, a monitor upgrade in the future will be cheaper.  Also, and I know recommending another AMD thing just makes me look like a fanboy, but Ryzen 7 will quite legitimately give you way more performance. Even getting a 6-core R5 CPU will drastically increase performance, and a 4-core will most likely (pretty much guaranteedly) increase it by a little bit.

I recommend this build.  It's a bit more expensive than yours, but you get way, way more power out of it.  If you want to save some money, downgrade the monitor (not recommended), and you can potentially downgrade the motherboard, if you don't mind a B350 board or the Biostar board (I have no experience with Biostar, but from what I understand they have a generally lower quality standing than the rest of the board manufacturers).  You could also potentially get a worse case (not recommended), or get the Cooler Master Devastator II Gaming Bundle mouse/keyboard combo instead of my keyboard/mouse choices.  Also, a note on the mouse, I looked at reviews of that mouse, and they're generally very positive, but mice are very, very subjective, so you do you.  Alright, here it is:

If you wanna buy used, GPUs are generally fine used, and you could potentially get a used monitor if you really wanted to save money, but other than that, you probably should avoid the used market for the rest of the components.

Well, I'm using this combo right now, and it's pretty nice.

Annoyingly it's literally impossible (you can't) turn the LED off for the mouse, and the only way to enable the backlight on the keyboard is with ScrollLock enabled on Windows. If you're on Linux, I'm pretty sure it's something like

xset -led 3

so, that might be a problem for you.

The keyboard feels wonderfully clicky (no bump at bottom, but a rather smooth linear motion), especially for someone who just upgraded from a membrane keyboard. Decently noisy, but not too bad.
