Hello,

I get this constant static sound through my headphones. It gets worse when i play games or even do a internet speed test.

The sound just randomly appeared one day and i cannot recall doing anything to the computer that might have had caused it.

Things i have tried to do to get rid of it that didn't work:

-Tried different headphones (I plug my headphones to the back of the computer)

-Updated sound drivers

-Unplugged usb devices one by one

-Plugged PC power cable into a different power outlets.

-Bought an USB Dac. The sound got even worse.

My pc specs:

OS: Windows 7 64bit

MOBO: AsRock Z77 Extreme6, LGA1155, Intel Z77, DDR3, ATX

PSU: Seasonic 660W P-660 (XP²) modular ATX-power supply, 80 Plus Platinum, semi-passive.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K

No overclocking.

My PC parts are about 3-4 years old.

Any suggestions on what i could do to stop the static sound?

Might be caused by EMI or common mode noise. Do you have any power bricks connected to the same power line as your PC?

Sounds like a ground loop. Buy an external DAC or a ground loop isolator https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B019393MV2/ref=pd_sbs_263_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B019393MV2&pd_rd_r=MD9BD2WFM2FB078PRNVD&pd_rd_w=6FJdz&pd_rd_wg=xE15r&psc=1&refRID=MD9BD2WFM2FB078PRNVD

Aha you already bought a DAC, the problem is that you are probably transfering the loop from your computer to the DAC through the USB. If your DAC supports optical spdif that should probably fix it

Already bought a DAC and that didn't help. With the DAC i could hear the static even louder. I guess i'll have to look into the ground loop isolator.
