are you referencing to the gtx 970 vram problem?

I doubt that after that any manufacturer will use misleading specs. If it says it has 4gb, it should have 4 gb

actually I mean that the gpu takes power from the pci express, so it might a bit worse?

you probably wont be able to overclock it the performance will be around the same as other 460 gpus.

460 is a 2GB card, do not fall in the trap of getting the 4GB version. The card is not capable of utilizing all 4GB while running a game. Although if your purpose is to use it for video editing or something else that requires a lot of VRAM, then it will work just fine.

As much as the game you're playing demands, up to 4 GB.

One can make the argument that an RX 460 is not going to be capable of playing at the settings where 4 GB is often needed, and that might often be correct, but there's nothing physically stopping it from using its entire pool of memory.

I just want to "play" star citizen, I don't really care if it is the lowest settings still running att 15 fps just if I can play my man

I think an RX 460 is a bit slower than a GTX 680 or HD 7970, so it may be wise to save up a bit more for an RX 470 (which should meet the Recommended). The VRAM really isn't going to be relevant, especially since 4 GB is for Ultra. You're not going anywhere near Ultra with an RX 460.

Star Citizen is still in alpha, and last time I checked it still didn't run particularly well even on my GTX 1070. I cannot imagine it would run well at all with it's minimum system configuration. You must temper your expectations a bit with a game still in a pre-release state.

You could possibly have your next PC before Star Citizen is actually in an optimized release state.

well this is kinda interesting I used Gamedebate to see how well it would perform with my setup  :OScreenShot_20170406180205.png.791c422789e22e23d84b331754e5db3f.png

I don't know, I don't own an RX 460 and cannot check.

What I can say is that an RX 460 is below the posted minimum configuration for the game, and Star Citizen seems to run poorly even on high-end systems. And I'd be very cautious of websites that make vague claims about how games run using big colorful graphics and percentages rather than hard specifics. Not once did that site even take a guess at an average framerate number, let alone a minimum, nor even mention a monitor resolution.

If you have other games in mind, great. Overwatch and Warframe are pretty easy to run and an RX 460 will probably do well there. I just wouldn't build a system around Star Citizen while the game is still so poorly optimized and so far from release.

So I guess the orange bars have something to do with performance at Low/Medium/High/Ultra at the selected resolution, that's a start. But what do the bars actually mean? Their height is clearly important, but we have no idea why other than just that one is taller than the next. What is a "Game Line?"

The "Relative System Requirements" graph seems to suggest that an RX 460 is ~155% faster than the minimum, I guess? How do they even quantify that? Especially since I'm quite certain it's actually slower than a GTX 680 or HD 7970.

I'm of the opinion that this site is pulling information out of its ass. :P

An RX 460 was benchmarked against an R9 280X here. The R9 280X is just a rebrand of the HD 7970, and the 7970 is listed as minimum for Star Citizen.

4 gb 2 is too little

tom clansis rainbow six siege uses 6 gb with the ultra textures even in 1080 p

A 460 isn't going to run games on ultra at 1080p.

A 470 will  get you close though for not a lot more money.  If you have GPU power connectors, spend a bit extra and get the 470.

460 is around a gtx 1050 in performance.  470 beats the crap out of the 1050ti, and with overclocking is close to a stock RX 480 in performance.

SFF-ish:  Ryzen 5 1600X, Asrock AB350M Pro4, 16GB Corsair LPX 3200, Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro -75mV, 512gb Plextor Nvme m.2, 512gb Sandisk SATA m.2, Cryorig H7, stuffed into an Inwin 301 with rgb front panel mod.  LG27UD58.

Aging Workhorse:  Phenom II X6 1090T Black (4GHz #Yolo), 16GB Corsair XMS 1333, RX 470 Red Devil 4gb (Sold for $330 to Cryptominers), HD6850 1gb, Hilariously overkill Asus Crosshair V, 240gb Sandisk SSD Plus, 4TB's worth of mechanical drives, and a bunch of water/glycol.  Coming soon:  Bykski CPU block, whatever cheap Polaris 10 GPU I can get once miners start unloading them.

MintyFreshMedia:  Thinkserver TS130 with i3-3220, 4gb ecc ram, 120GB Toshiba/OCZ SSD booting Linux Mint XFCE, 2TB Hitachi Ultrastar.  In Progress:  3D printed drive mounts, 4 2TB ultrastars in RAID 5.
