I want a genreally quier build overall. I realize this means bye to my 5tb toshiba. I was thinking of using a disk drive bay on my case as a hard drive bay with some accessories on the market for if I ever needed to use my 5tb drive to acces files (it would mainly be content not games). I would then purchase a SSD to fit my gaming storage needs. I wanted to know what others on the internet think about this plan and what SSD would be a good price/performace/storage option. I play some triple A titles like BF1 recently and also play varius steam games such as h1z1. Thanks and here is my build.

Is your hdd really that noisy? It shouldn't be that noticeable if at all. If you want to decrease noise you might consider reducing fan speeds of your gpu, cpu fan, and maybe get different case fans.

Unsure what power supply to pick?

Check out my HTPC build.

besides the HDD, the loudest thing in there is probably a toss up between your PSU FAN and the CPU Fan.

i only it got a year ago. Is the lifespan really that short?

It shouldn't sound like it wants to die. Hdd noises aren't good.

Its been doing this for months though. I have re downloadable stuff one there basically only games.

Well I don't know how loud it is but a grinding hard drive indicates imminent failure. So just be prepared.
