Advise needed for picking the 'right' gpu....

Go to solution Solved by Sarcasm,

780Ti. You need to get at least 100 frames if you're in 3D.

Just wondering on any of you peep's thoughts and advise. I'm pretty much a noob to the custom building and this is my first attempt at a build. These are the componants i have so far:

Chasis: Corsair 900d

mobo: asus Maximus VI extreme

CPU: Intel i7 4770k (plan to oc assuming i have a decent oc batch proccesor)

CPU Cooler: corsair h110

Ram: Gskill Trident 16gb (2x8gb) 1600mhz 7-8-8-24-2n

HDD: Samsung 840 evo 750gb ssd

PSU: Seasonic Platinnum 1000w

Fans: Running Noctua fans throughout

other things to consider:

i shall be running just the one 3d monitor and at the very push perhaps running two monitors in a 1+1 config.

still unsure about operational software (win 7 or win 8)

I'll be mainly be using it for watching films and playing all the latest high end graphic games online.

Which all leads me to the parts that confusing me now.

Whats the 'right' gpu/gpu's for my build???

im not bothered about price, but i dont just wanna waste my money buying a gpu that's really absurd and over the top for what i have running. do i go for a titan? 780ti? 780? or sli? also, wattage.... i don't wanna get something that my psu doesn't have the juice to run....

everytime i try to think upon this it just leaves me frustrated, with still no idea and scratching my head. So, does anyone have any ideas on this please?

I would be very grateful for you guys input.

cheers.

A 780 is most likely the most you will need and with the price drops. It's great bang for the buck. If you want to step up to a 780ti then you should be playing at resolutions greater than 1080p.

SLI 780ti's or 780ti, if you got the money, SLI 780's if you'd want the best FPS per dollar, but this means you cant upgrade later down the road....

another quick question though for future reference. even with the overclock of my cpu would a my 1000w psu be adiquate enough to run 780's or 780ti's in sli?

1000w is more than enough

There's no reason to get a Titan for gaming, the 780 Ti is better. A 1000W PSU should be able to handle pretty much anything you can reasonably use, unless you're doing 3/4-way SLI/crossfire or something else crazy.

But yeah, your system seems to be pretty dang high-end so 780/Ti, 290/X, or any of those in 2-way SLI/crossfire would be good options depending on your budget.

Thanks to everyone who has chipped in, this has solved the glitch in my brain that wasnt allowing me to decide. 780ti SLI it is for me :)

whould it be best to stick with the basic stock gpu or should i go for asus ones so i can tweak voltage easier since i have the mobo that makes it easier to do so using asus gpu's?

or on the other hand should i get one with a better cooler? evga's acx range or the geforce windforce for example?

argh! sooooo confusing! lol......
