Wearable cameras/recorders?

I hope I am in the right board. If not, I apologize.

 

Long story short... One day, I would like to be able to travel. In preparation for that, I'm researching wearable cameras and recorders. I would love to be able to record and easily capture pictures from a camera on my person, rather than having to whip out a handheld device. I want to experience my vacation through my own eyes, rather than a screen; but, I still want to be able to relive those moments through video and photo.

 

Does anyone who is more experienced in this field know if these types of cameras exist or are in the making?

You're in the right place, as this does fall under photography. Wearable cameras come and go like cell phones these days - so many companies compete to make the best wearable cameras it's hard to really call any of them the best. Plus, most consumers buy these cameras for one specific trip, and then never use them again, even on future trips, because they can't be bothered to offload the footage they captured. Usually, this is due to lack of decent software or time to learn video editing software.

 

However, a quick Google search will bring up many articles like this one https://www.wareable.com/cameras/best-wearable-lifelogging-cameras where they give a list of what they deem to be some of the better lifeblogging cameras. That's what you're looking for - a lifeblogging/lifevlogging camera, even if you just want it for trips. But, as I noted above, you'll find that a lot of these companies are also shutting down their services https://www.engadget.com/2016/09/28/narrative-shuts-down-its-lifelogging-camera-business/ which effectively cripples their camera's capabilities. So you really need to research first to find a camera that'll work for you.
