Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB

                 Vs

Asus RoG STRIX 1060 6GB

Hi, I'm preparing a new build, my first in fact, and I was leaning towards a Nvidia gtx 1060 6gb for my GPU, this is because I wanted to use the surround feature that it has and the price range is at a sweet spot for my budget..

But now that I've seen the specs and the benchmarks between the two GPUs ( not to mention that I like the aura sync with the prime z270a)

I'm more leaning towards the Asus RoG Strix 1060 6gb BUT... my question that I cannot find is does it still use the nvidia surround feature as it's built around nvidia?

Thanks for any help!!

They're both Nvidia cards. The only difference is one is aftermarket, one is not.

Go with the ASUS, or if you want something even better, EVGA has great cards.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

the Asus 1060 6GB IS an Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB

the only real difference is the cooler that is attached to the card and the RBG features. the raw performance and features of the two cards are exactly the same as they are exactly the same internal GPU. the aftermarket Asus card may be able to reach higher clockspeeds or operate cooler or look better, but at their core they are both GTX 1060's so they will both come with all of the 1060 Pascal features.

Thanks guys for clarifying that for me.. it's just I've been watching all the specs and seeing what they are both advertising it got a bit confusing.. especially changing my build over and over because I'm not happy lol

so I think that settles it then! Asus for me :-) thanks guys!!

Yes

They use the same GPU, so both support surround. The Founders Edition is the most expensive GTX 1060 and it is not worth it. Get the STRIX (unless you need a blower cooler)

Idk, but in the OP, he said that he wants to use Nvidia Surround, which is not supported on the RX 480... :P Of course Eyefinity is an option as well

You seem confused.

Here's how it works, Nvidia release the original graphics card, also known as a "Reference" or "Founders edition" card. These cards usually are pretty basic, have a basic look and a basic cooling system. Most of them are silver cards with "Geforce GTX" written in Green on them and a basic exhaust fan on the bottom.

A few weeks or sometimes months after Nvidia release their basic model, companies (Like ASUS, MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, Zotac and a few others) pick up the card and shove branding on it, make it look cool, and most importantly they add better cooling systems, like big copper heatpipes and bigger fans.

All of the cards perform very similar, but they are exactly the same graphics card, just they look different, usually have better coolers, and some companies even overclock them so they are slightly faster out of the box. They all have the same features in terms of graphics, meaning (I believe) all of them will have the Surround feature.

When your shopping for a graphics card and you've decided on the model, to decide which brand, just go look at different brands and pick out the one you think looks nicest to you. I personally like EVGA , ASUS ROG and MSI cards. Most of these cards perform exactly the same, some like the Zotact AMP Extreme perform very well because they have beefy coolers on them, and you can even get some that are liquid cooed!

That said, I advise you also do some research on the AMD RX 480 8GB. It has very, very similar performance to the 1060 6GB (maybe faster, hard to tell) and is cheaper.

Graphics Card: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080Ti OC

Case: Phanteks Evolv X
Power Supply: Corsair HX1000i Platinum-Rated

Radiator Fans: 3x Corsair ML120
Case Fans: 4x be quiet! Silent Wings 3

I understood to a point.. but it was the damn advertising on their website that asus don't mention this feature and nvidia don't mention some of the asus features..

That is because the founders edition will not have some of the Asus features...

Do you understand the difference between a GPU and a Graphics Card?

So the best buy nvida card or a strix? Depends on the case. They are gonna perform the same. Get what you like or can afford.
