So I recently built a new PC and noticed that my memory usage isn't adding up. (I've attached some screenshots to display it better than I can state it).

I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. i5-4670k (not overclocked) MSI GTX 780 GE 3gb (not overclocked), MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard, Corsair HX850 PSU, 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance low profile 1600mhz RAM, Samsung EVO 250gb.

Now I haven't had any application crashes or system blue screens/restarts, but the inconsistency worries me. As recommended by another user to someone with a similar albeit unsolved problem in another thread I've ran scans of both Malware Bytes and Hitmanpro both revealing 0 threats. Unfortunately the CCE from Commando, which was suggested, doesn't have an appropriate Windows 8 ready version so I haven't used that.

Any useful feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys. (And as you'll see the memory screenshots are taken from start-up and with few programs running (Skype, Steam, et cetera as they open on start, if required I can take some screenshots without them open)) Sometimes the memory usage isn't as bad but after perhaps playing a game or two on steam or opening other programs it starts to have a high inconsistency.

Thanks once again.

This problem happens when "File Paging" has been turned off. Take a look to see if you are running this process "intellimem.exe" I have had users running this process have problems with above normal Mem Usage.

Hope this helps.

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced Tab (for me it defaults on this tab) -> Settings... (under the "Performance" section) -> Advanced Tab -> under "Virtual Memory" click Change... -> Make sure "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is checked.

Unfortunately it was already ticked and it doesn't seem like "Intellimem.exe" is running. Thanks for the post though.

I'm not sure how to mark the issue as solved but in case anyone else experiences a similar issue the problem was the large amount of non-paged usage, most likely a memory leak cause by some drivers. Download and run poolmon to find which drivers are causing the problem.
