GPU frequency not stable while gaming...normal?

While gaming, the GPU frequency doesn't stay at stable 1354MHz, it just keep changing, no matter it's light or heavy scenes. Strange enough, sometimes it boosts up to the boost clock and even beyond that. Is it normal?
My GPU is GTX 1050 (laptop)

if its  by a few MHz (20-50) I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I wouldn't worry about this it's probably GPU Boost 3.0 doing it's thing, if you start to see a performance decrease then that's when you should start to worry.

Yeah it's normal if its just small changes, the card goes adapting the usage, unless it is 100s+ change it ain't thermals.

But the strange part is, the frequency will drop even on heavy load scenes and will stay at 1354 even on light load scenes. Sometimes the other way round

There is nothing wrong with it, the hardware is just attending what the application asks, even my Titan XP will fluctuate on its core frequencies depending on the game and moment during it, unless the clock has a significant drop which could mean something is wrong there is no performance loss at the card just adjusting the frequency on it's demand

Sometimes will experience lags

However lags will also occur when clocked at 1354MHz

Could you actually get some reliable information like your msi afterburner or hwmonitor logs after gameplay and such? no just clocks but the actual temps and all because conjecturing like this is hard, also keep track on your fps averages if they drop or not etc...

 

Without actual data to analyze all we can do for you is keep guessing

All info is taken from Afterburner.

Anyway if you want some screenshots I will provide you after I go to sleep, it's 12.30am here
