so i have a amd A8 based system, with a MSI Greade motherboard. the issue im having with it is it randomly shuts itself off. ive checked temps to see if it was a CPU overheat issue. the idle temp is 16C so that cant be the problem. my first instinct it to say its the motherboard or power supply. any ideas on what i should begin testing?

PSU

motherboard

that two are your suspect...

but i would go with psu cause it is the common culprit in that situation...

this is exactly what i was figuring, luckily i came across a gold 750W i can use, thank you guys for confirming my thoughts.

so the PSU is the culprit here?

is your problem now solved?

im going to be swapping out the PSU in a little bit and i will update with results. interesting thing to add though, when i went to work last night i made sure to shut the pc down buit forgot to flip the power switch on the PSU. when i got hom the pc was on. could the PSU short and cause the system to turn on?

so it wasnt a short circuit or the mother board, for some reason im getting different temp readings accross 3 different programs. the CAm software that works with the pump for the CPU cooler reads 45-60C while idle, the cpu temp and open hardware monitor reads 20-30C. the bios reads about 30 at startup. i think the cpu is "overheating" and triggering a shut down.
