Hi, I'm new in here and so I need your opinion to helping me out. I was planning to get fx 8320 for practice lab such as GNS3, and virtualization. On the same, I also do playing games and stuft but casually. Was it beneficial to me? Yes ryzen is here but it's kinda costing a lot to me right now and those items (cpu+motherboard), I've got the best price from my friend.

whats your budget?

how much is your friend selling for?

my budget is around $160 and I got $157 for 'em. The motherboard is Asus M5A97 R2(used) but it still under warranty. I only need cpu and motherboard only. Other component parts I already have.

I believe I'm not. why?

you can pick up a new 8320 and a cheap mobo for 100usd or less. to be honest with you FX series is old and outdated, if you can save a bit more to get a Pentium or a i5 it will perform much better.

too bad the fx series price doesn't same in my country. new fx series price still quite expensive on market right now even tho ryzen already came out. Currently my system, i3 3220 kinda suffering and sometime it freeze a while when I running 4 VM and GNS3 simultaneously.

That will still cost more than an FX. FX is fine for running a virtual lab

If your just making a network lab, id look into getting a used server like a dell r710. There normally about 160 dollars, and come as a working system with normally 16-24gb or ram and dual cpus. They also have much better software support for things like esxi if you ever want to run that.

sadly my country, Malaysia doesn't allow any shipping from foreign countries mostly. ebay is also not an exception. Also, I need to be declare the goods and probably get tax. for psu and gpu, i already have it. Aerocool AF-650 and RX 470.

Here, dell r710 really expensive. Dell PowerEdge R710 Server XEON QUAD CORE 2X 2GB RAM 2X 146GB HDD(used) still costing around RM1 908 ($430).
