Does anyone have this service? Do you use the PlayStation box?  Do you use a different "media TV"? I am trying to save my parents money on their seriously over priced TV bill and I am trying to find a good way for them to still watch their news/shows.  I thought it might be easier to navigate a box that is native for the service but I have no idea of the quality. I have always just used my computer for my video streaming. Any opinions or replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had it from March till November of last year, I cancelled after they removed Viacom channels with less then 3 days notice, It runs Well on a Fire TV 4k or an Nvidia Shield TV, it supports ALL major devices, Roku, PS3, PS4, Fire TV, Chromecasts (ACTUAL Chromecasts and ONLY after using it on another one of the devices listed here), Apple TV and Android TV. Overall it's a pretty solid generally reliable service, tips I would give anyone considering it, DON'T USE ROKU, the Roku app is built off the old Roku SDK templates and doesn't even have a GUIDE, which is ESSENTIAL for older folks who have always had a guide, it is LOCATION LOCKED by the IP address, meaning once you set them up at there house don't expect to be able to login at your house with it, it CAN'T be shared, it CAN be watched on up to 5 devices at once and I personally NEVER got a "to many streams error" like I have SEVERAL times with DirecTV Now (one of the competitors), the Guide is flip flopped with channels across the top going left to right and TIME moving up and down (some people complain about this so I thought I'd mention it), picture quality is a close 2nd to DTVNow, but is also highly dependent on the device you watch from, like aPS3 and a Fire Stick have noticably lower image quality then a Fire TV 4k when connected to the SAME TV (tested this myself), it should also be noted the Fire Stick and PS3 run the app VERY POORLY, it's like using a first generation Iphone TODAY after playing with a new one for a comparison of speed between the Fire Stick and PS4, I find the Fire TV/Nvidia Shield TV to be the happy middle ground as it is fast enough to not feel sluggish but comes in at a reasonable price and unlike the PS4 has a 10 second skip button when watching DVR content. I have a bunch of videos on my Youtube channel (DanielRichards644) showing how to do different functions like favoriting things and switching between DVR and Live TV.

Ask me anything, I'm a Vue Guru and I keep up to date on issues even though I no longer have the service, I also had Sling for a LONG time and have DirecTV Now now, so I can compare the 3 services for you.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know it was IP locked. Are most live tv services like this? My parents have three houses that they move around between.  Is DTVNow IP locked?

ONLY Vue is IP locked DTVNow and Sling can move with you Sling will adjust the Local channels (what few they have) based on your IP location, like for example are Walmarts Wifi here in Georgia locates to somewhere in Texas so if I connect to that wifi I get the Local NBC from that area where here in Georgia I don't get NBC because our Atlanta NBC doesn't do live streaming at all.

DTVNow has the best overall image quality but if Sling has the channels they watch I would suggest going that route, DTVNow has many issues and is limited to 2 streams, Sling (as long as you don't care about ESPN/Disney crap) has a 3 stream option and is a generally solid service with the SAME interface across ALL devices and it even supports ALL DEVICES, where DTVNow is only on Apple TV and Fire TV (as far as TV Connected devices go).

Sadly my dad watches a lot of fox news and I didn't see that on sling TV list. He basically just watches Fox/Golf/History/Discorvery.  I knew it was too good to be true for 35$.  RiP Thanks for the help I will keep looking.

for that channel lineup you would HAVE to use DTVNow, they are the only ones that have both History and Discovery, the issues with them is the lack of support, they have NO PHONE SUPPORT at all, ONLY Twitter, Facebook and online Chat and the Twitter/Facebook support is like talking to a Computer BOT level of stupid. If they can handle the occasional (sometimes OFTEN) buffering (especially on Discovery content, been having issues with Discovery owned channels Buffering a lot between 9 and 10 pm eastern this week) the app is the easiest to use, my dad is 67 and suffers from Parkisons and he has no issue navigating it like he did with Vue, when we had Vue he often just watched Netflix, now with DTVNow he's watching DTVNow more then anything even with the issues. DTV Now is also limited in device support, Roku was SUPPOSED to be added by Q1 but recent reports say that isn't happening and the timeline has simply been altered to THIS YEAR with NO APOLOGY for LYING yet again, there is also NO DVR and the Marketed 72 Hour Rewind hasn't worked in 3 months and they just keep sawing SOON for when they hope to have it back, can't get a straight answer out them if there lives depended on it. But if you sign up today you can get free HBO for the YEAR (unless you cancel before the year is up) if you get one of the higher packages, which if they use AT&T cell phones they can do a deal to get like 25 bucks off the Go Big plan (which makes it as cheap as the cheap plan but WAY better channel lineup).

ONLY times I ever experience buffering on Sling was when I was on a less then 10 mbps connection, like the 3 mbps connections some places in town have for there public wifi, I used to get an audio sync issue on the Windows EXE version of the program (not the version from the Windows Store for Windows 10) following a video artifact that happened once an hour on History channel and Comedy Central had some serious artifacting issues, they had a Free Weekend no credit card required like a month back and the once an hour artifacting was still there on History across all devices but atleast it was working unlike DTVNow who suckered me in with a good price and a FREE APPLE TV (offer ends Midnight pacific time tonight) for prepaying 3 months of service.
