I have ASUS X452EA that originally had windows 7 and was upgraded to windows 10 for about a year or so and had been running with no major issues. couple month back, i got some windows update, I think its a major update cause it really demands to restart so bad for the update, so at first i thought "yeah sure why not". I restart, when it try to turn back on, and do its "configuring updates dont turn off your computer" or something like that, the update percentage got stuck at 32% and wont move, i tried leaving it overnight and still 32%. i had no choice than to reset my laptop for that.

I lost nothing, the data is still there, but no applications, i know its not such a big deal but its been happening to me more than 7 times now, i've change my update settings so it wont automatically update and only restart for update if i want to, but still its kinda annoying that somehow this update cant be installed in my laptop and i need to always carefully click on the shutdown options and not the shutdown and update option. Please help :(

*sorry for bad english, havent use it for a while

Thanks!

Havent tried it to be honest, Im little bit scared and worried if that doesnt help and just waste a lot of time. I am on my thesis so, its a bit risky for me to do so i guess. Thanks for the reply, do you have any idea why this thing happen? is there other case like this?

Possibilities -

1) software corrupt

2) hardware faulty

could be windows gone corrupt due to improper shutdowns or pc went to sleep when updates were happening and its just stuck at installing a certain update. reformatting and doing a clean install could help or doing a system restore if you have that enabled. but before that, try using the laptops built in diagnostics to check the hardware if possible. should be in bios. reformatting and reinstalling shouldnt take more than an hour. but if your hardware is faulty then there's no point. do the diagnostics first to rule out failed hardware.

you could try clearing the windows update cache files first.
