I have 4670k 4.4GHZ temps are 68C, lowering fan speed does not help they are loud even at idle.

fan spins about 1180rpm when playing games

expect high rpm and noise while playing games, its noise or high temps.

water cooling benefits those really high end CPUs and cards that need heat transferred to ali fins with higher surface area than what air cooling provides, and you still need those annoying fans + a pump.

If you look at Jayz2cents builds; his are really expensive but he has quite a good setup where he has very large radiators and lots of fans at low rpm; VERY expensive to do.

I dont think you need that extra complexity to get silence, because i have silence with an AMD-FX which is the butt of CPU heater jokes. I have 4X 140mm PWM noctua fans as intake and I have 1X120mm PWM noctua fan as exhaust. I have no fan on my CPU, because I can line up my exhaust fan with my CPU cooler, it makes the CPU fan pointless. Its summer right now and I previously only had two intake fans and they would ramp up on and off, by adding two more intake it keeps the temps below the 55C i set for min temp. It will still ramp up playing games nothing can really stop that.

I hope this helps in what ever you end up doing

What cpu do you have? What are your load temps? Have you tried lowering fan speeds?

With Corsair SP120, you have the choice between the Quiet edition, which are marginally better than not having fans at all, or the performance edition would give around the same airflow as you already have, but noisier (unless your current fans have failed bearings). If your fans have failed, consider replacing them.

What are your temperatures and fan speed?

If the fan is noisy at 1180 RPM, it is faulty. You could try to re-lubricate it to reduce the noise, or replace it.

I have only had bad experiences with Corsair fans, I have not had any issues with Noctua, Be Quiet, NZXT or Fractal design fans.

copy/paste my standard fan answer here:

if your stock fans bearings are ok (they are not making noise) and are compatible with the fan control you want to use; then hold off on spending money you do not need to spend. Iv had fans last between two years to some that are still running after several years and have outlasted the case they came with. The only reason I have a stack of OEM fans is because they are not PWM and I make other uses for them

What fan speeds are you running at idle?

You have quite a bit of headroom for temps.
