Msi Interceptor Ds100 issue

After putting my old DS100 back into use since I am not getting on with my Reaper from Coolermaster as my grip just feels off with it.

 

However it seems the side buttons are inverted! what should be back is forward.  I've got the software and configured it as attached, I click apply and it just stays the flipping same? what's the point of software if the fucking thing does not do it's job? or am I missing something?

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

 

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

 

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.
