Newer Intel socket mounts

Do the newer Intel sockets have the same cooler motherboard mounts as Z97/Z87? I have a z97 mobo atm and I am thinking about upgrading to a new good cooler under the condition that it can be used on all newer chipsets as well. And what about the new AMD ones, do they also have the same mounts?

As zMeul said, all 115X Intel boards have the same mounting holes

However, AM4 (Ryzen) has totally new mounting holes.

 

Some Ryzen motherboards support both AM4 and the older AM3, so if you want you could snag one of those.

 

also, most cooler manufacturers will send you a bracket if you need one.

It really depends on the platform and cooler. Intel and AMD have different mounting, although many coolers come with mounting hardware for both.

 

All current 115x boards have the same mounting. However, if you move from mainstream to HEDT (eg 2011v3) then you need a different mounting bracket. This will likely come with the cooler.

 

AMD coolers have a couple of ways to mount, either using a pair of clips, or screwing through to the backplate. Coolers which were compatible with AM3 using clips are compatible with AM4, although coolers which screw into the backplate for AM3 are not compatible with AM4 and need a replacement bracket.

 

Coolers cannot be guaranteed to be compatible with sockets that have not yet been released.
