Yes.  You can put a rev 3 card in a rev 2 or rev 1 slot.  Even a smaller slot like an x4 and possibly even x1.  But then you're probably going to run into issues with available bandwidth.  Though I wouldn't suggest cutting out the back of the pcie x4 or x1 slot and having all the rest of the contacts just hanging out to risk being shorted - but is has been done in the past by other people.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

It doesn't need it, pcie is backwards compatible, so you could put the 1050 ti in the pcie 2 slot. On a side note, why not an rx 470? It's only a little more expensive and is a lot faster.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

i have seen some benchmarks and reviews and the 1050 ti dominates over the 470. anothes issue preventing me to buy a 470 is my psu. i dont have 6 pin connector.

470 stomps 1050ti.  It's the 460 that the 1050 beats.

Oh yeah you're right. My bad. But even if i wanted to buy the 470 i cant due to my psu

Nvm then 1050 ti it is.

Though if your psu doesn't even have a pcie connector, you might wanna get it changed... What psu do you have?
