SSD's, NVMe's Hybrid drives and what else? O.o

Kierlan

So.. In the last few years it seems we've got all sorts of new and exciting longterm storage options in various speeds and specifications.

Is it really worth it to pick up a 200 USD NVMe over a good SSD or is there no real practical difference to the end user?

Hybrid drives were iffy a while back and I'm imagining they've not changed that much.. but what else is going on with storage these days?

Hi,

AFAIK NVMe is not worth it for a general PC experience. You wouldn't be able to tell the speed difference between a SATA SSD and a NVMe SSD.

Hybrid drives make no sense in my opinion, especially if you have an SSD.

As for what's going on with storage that's interesting and actually available to the general consumer to purchase are the Seagate helium filled 10TB drives.

Yeah I've heard about those 10TB drives.. at some point I wonder about putting to many eggs in one basket.

I'm putting together a built right now so NVMe and SATA are foremost in my mind right now :) Hell i'm still on SATA 300 on my current old build :)
