Windows 10 vs Windows 8.1

Win 10

+Dx12

 

- Driver auto update

- Telemetry

- Loads of blue screen

 

Win 8.1

+ No telemetry

+ Nice UI

+ User defined drivers

+ Support until 2020

 

- DX12 not supported

- Metro UI

- Dont have a key.

 

Should i risk it and buy a key of kinguin? i dont like windows 10. infact, i hate it.

I have bought a few keys off Kinguin personally never had an issue. Depending on what hardware you are using, you may get "unsupported" by microsoft on windows 8.1 if you have a Ryzen or KabyLake system.

there are tools available to disable all of windows's telemetry junk. also, if you enable tablet mode, windows 10 will look and feel nearly identical to 8.1

not that simple, i had lots of bluescreen, freezes, radon shutdown. window 10 has been perfect for my x99 platform, not sure about everyone else.

i think window 8 is the worst windows ever released, worst than vista( i really liked how vista looked), i would gladly take any windows over crap windows 8 and 8.1 was.

Yeah, windows 7 works well, but some games are stopping supporting it

i have a Macbook pro, it works well on macs but not on windows, its wierd

windows 10 is good enough for me, loved window 7 too, i would pick anything over window 8.1.

ummmm. I've been on windows 10 since the start and i haven't had any bluescreens that werent because of overclocks or whatever.... and Telemetry can be disabled insanely easily - I've even disabled cortana!

I've experienced no issues on any of my machines (ranging from 7 to 10). I would say go to the most recent platform.

Ive had two windows 10 crashes, first was THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER and second was POOL somethin or other. I never had these crashes on windows 7. wierd

it depends on luck and hardware, i used to run windows 7 with a i7 2600 before upgrading to my x99 system.

well i have a feeling these crashes have something to do with my outdated FM2+ board, but i cant afford to upgrade, im looking into G4560 or 2500k

i7 2600 is much better than am2 and am3 platform, those old office pc with a decent gfx card really makes it a good rig for school and gaming.

Yeah, i think ive decided so far, but im not to sure. plans are

 

i5-2500k - oc to around 3.8-4ghz (silicone lottery)

Z77 board, not looked into it much

2x GTX760 or 1xGTX 1050

8GB DDr3 Standard
