GTX 1080 on a 1000$ budget tell me your opinion

DustHaze

B boards are not mean for overclockable CPUs.

Drop the K on the CPU for something lighter like the 6400/6500.

Also drop the stock cooler if that is the case.

Managed to cram a 6700 locked and a cheap mobo into it, the 6700 will bottleneck the 1080 quite a bit less.

A thing to note is that the board is more of a dirty brown than black.

Otherwise solid.

that CPU will bottleneck a 1080 at 1080P

Try and throw in some more euros, seems everything is really expensive in france. With that extra use the build that @Droidbot suggested, but swap out the 6700, for a 6700k and get a z170 board. Either that or drop to a 1070.

I have tested a 1070 build before and I tested them in this website http://www.userbenchmark.com/PCBuilder

it seems that the 1080 have a bigger impact

ok no1 don't use that website, go with real reviews, ones that digital foundry use are great as they show minimum, max, average FPS and frame times. Yes the 1080 will have a bigger impact, but its like having a 6 litre Ferrari v10 engine and using a Ford Mondeo Fuel pump to provide the fuel

Okay im going to be completely honest here, 144hz 1080p.

At that price point, what you have is great, does it's job and a great part purchase.

Going down 2 generations of CPUs just for "supposed" no bottleneck is really pointless.

Im pretty sure the server CPU will bottle neck due to it's insufficient boost clocks on single core.

Also, the PSU you have is great, trustable PSU and since you are not going to overclock anyways a perfect choice.

I really think at this point the only issue would be not having an SSD.

Thx dude,

the SSD wont do much impact for games due the fact I won't install any games on it

RAM and PSU are fine, you can't go wrong with Seasonic PSU's

I just think a more balanced approach is required

with this budget I can only afford SSD if I removed 8 gb of ram and I will chose a cheap one maybe to install my system on

if you're talking about the Xeon, it's just below a locked i7 4770. It performs surprisingly well for the money, and it's not a server CPU, it's a rebranded consumer chip.

but the i7 6700 is a better value for money imo, it's a decent amount quicker and a good pairing with the 1080.

idk

That Ram/Cooler doesn't have a price. You won't save anything buying from Spain in any case. For example on Amazon.fr you can get the Palit Gamerock 1080 for less.
