10 year old compooter

So I have this low spec, old computer, but it's just been sitting here, wasting away.

What should I do with it?

I was thinking painting the motherboard?

Add a RX 460? (CPU might bottle neck)

Swap the case for a home made wooden wall mount, practice test.

Make it an entertainment computer? ( I already have a raspberry pi :P)

Any other interesting, fun, creative ideas?

I'm sad to say that I think that computer has run its course unless you want to try replacing the CPU with a Q6600.

Install Windows 98 on it. Instant retro gaming machine. (assuming there are drivers for this hardware for that OS)

There are ways to get a lot of old games running on modern systems but often not without compromises and some games are impossible to run unless they are on Win98. It's a hassle free solution, if nothing else.

You can use it for tinkering with software (for instance when you have to achieve a certain task but you don't know what software to use for it and don't want to install like 10 applications before achieving the task on your main rig)

Or put a lot of HDD's on it and turn it into a network file server.

Or use it as a dedicated server for games like Minecraft.

I like the network file server.

Wait, is that a thermaltake PSU? That's not factory.

You could also do a regular build in it and turn it into a "Sleeper" PC.

Hey man, this is your stuff, not mine. You do what you want, but if you plan to do anything with it get the Q6600 first, make sure BIOS is up to date and works with it, then shoot the CPU.

PSU is 250w I think. It'll probably be a sleeping PC. :P

If possible, get a cheap hdmi gpu and use it as a Media Center

Let me just tell you, Core 2 Duos are not good for Windows 98.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Yeah, probably not... Even if it worked (which it probably won't, now that I think about it, since Win98 doesn't support multi-core CPU's and hyperthreading), only one core would be functional.
