Since i have recently moved for myself i feel like the place needs a TV.

I have allways been a PC gamer so i dont have a clue when it comes to TV's and gaming so i would like some help.

I have had my eyes on these TV's

Samsung  UE42F5005 - 100hz LED 42" 1080p

LG   47LN540V             -100hz LED 47" 1080p

It didnt say anything about their ms, please tell me if you know.

The TV's main use will be console gaming, watching livestreams and playing music.

It doesn't really matter what TV you will get.

Most modern TVs these days will add effects to the image to make it look better, adding input lag.

Fortunately, some companies include a Gaming Mode to TVs.

Learn how to enable it here:

Personally Panasonic Viera plasma. The image quality is way better then any LCD and there is no motion blur like a CRT and modern plasmas don't really have burn in. Sometimes I play my old SNES games and the ingame hud stays on for a few hours and there is no burn in also if there is a bit of burn in (that takes at least 12 hours) there is a mode where you can scroll a white bar on the screen and it removes it.

I also strongly suggest a Plasma TV for gaming.  Assuming you don't have an entire wall of windows behind your TV (or you have curtains or blinds) the picture quality, speed, black levels are all much better on Plasma than LED.  I personally prefer the Samsung models myself, they tend to have less of an issue with image retention than Panasonic, cost a little less and have superior calibration options (unless you get a GT or VT series Panasonic).  I would personally look at the 7000 series from Samsung, it's bang for the buck probably the best set on the market right now and you can get a 50" for under a grand if you catch a good sale.

For the record, Black Friday is an awful time to buy TVs, best prices are after christmas and around the Super Bowl.  I sold TVs for a number of years, I am a video and audio nut (I own a Monitor Audio setup and a Pioneer Elite Kuro), you could say I'm an expert in the field.  I would also strongly suggest you set up the TV on a standard mode and calibrate it, the guys over at AVS forums often have threads with settings that if you don't have equipment of your own will do at least a decent job.

As for Image retention, running through a break-in period and then making sure you run the pixel orbiter (on by default these days) will prevent you from having issues.  If you happen to get an image (like with HUDs in older games) you can run the anti-image program (scrolling white/black screen) that will help get rid of it.  I personally ran a break-in for a week and then calibrated my screen, most people get images because their TV is too bright and on what we call "torch" mode.  If you play in "game" or "vivid" it'll be more likely to leave an image.  Playing in "game" mode will turn off some of the image processing and help with lag but is usually too bright, I calibrated my game mode to be like my standard mode and only change when I'm playing console games.

I've never had an image of any kind on my screen, not from marathon gaming sessions or 12 hours of ESPN a day...

(I downgraded to a 22" 1080p monitor)

edit : I also used this with my old Xbox 360 and PS3 and the response time was fantastic, I believe the response time is 5ms.
