Greetings.

My trusty $7.5 Logitech G90 has finally started to give me double-click issues after 2 years of heavy usage, and now I'm looking to replace it. I'm looking to invest in a wireless mouse, and am kicking myself because the sale on the G700s just ended.

(Sorry, hit enter too early)

I don't care about programmable keys, but I need it to be below 2000 Indian Rupees/$30 including shipping, and need it to ship to India or be available on Indian sites such as Amazon.in or Flipkart.com

Regards,
Aereldor

G700S is nice. All the Logitech peripherals I have used works awesome (I had a budget g300s and now using a g402 plus g710+ kb)

The sale ended, and it'd take a month to get here.

I'm looking at the G300s, seeing as that can be here in a matter of days and will cost me $20. However, a wireless mouse can also be used with a laptop, and I'm going to have to move from my desktop to a laptop soon. $20 is quite a bit where I live, and I'd rather invest more now and get a long-lasting wireless mouse rather than invest a little and have to buy a wireless mouse later.

I have someone who can bring me a mouse in a month, so I could also get something like an MX Master ($60) and use a crap replacement till then.

G300s is extremely light so not sure how strong/quality they are though it's Logitech not Razer. I didn't like it as there were no thumb buttons but love the fact you can change the light (there are 10 iirc to choose from)  and have 3 different profiles to store macro and switch between them

Yeah they are not wireless

I just need something that'll last me a long time. I see that it may be beneficial to give up on wireless mice.

G402 is $38 here. G300s is half that.

G300s lasted a year for me until I lost it. No issues at all other than dust.

This Logitech G90 has lasted me two, and is only starting to have double-click issues. I bought it in early 2015 for $7.

I don't know if I want to 'upgrade'. I don't play FPS games, and I don't care for programmable keys. Furthermore, I like my mouse to be more sensitive so as not to tire out my wrist, which is why I keep mine at 2500 DPI on a 1080p display.

The only thing that owuld qualify as an upgrade is an upgrade to a wireless mouse, but those are scarce here and expensive everywhere. I also don't like the look of many of them, besides the MX Master- and that's $60 and is locked at 1250 DPI.

Makes me wonder whether there's an equally reliable mouse out there.

It's quite hard with limited budget to work with. Is used (assuming it wasn't used much) an option?

Find me something great and I'll extend the budget. If you can find a wireless mouse that will go the sitance and looks nice (minimalist, subtle like the MX master or the G90), I'll spend what it takes, assuming the mouse will last me 3 years or more.

I don't know how long the MX Master lasts, but it's the highest-end mouse they make, and my G90 is the lowest, and it lasted 2 years.

There is Logitech M510 for similar price though can't say much about durability (though it has incredibly huge amount of reviews for a single mouse https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003NR57BY/?tag=pcpapi-20)

G602 is a bit more, bit gamery however but most G lineup from Logitech are good

Or see if G700S/G700 goes on sale again.

I suppose so. I'm actually really impressed to see the MX Master, a formerly $100+ mouse, be down at $60. The only reason I'm refraining from upgrading my PC is that I may have to move to a laptop very soon, and I'm curious about how long the MX Master will last, and whether it can go 6 months with my PC and four years with a laptop. For a number of reasons, a wireless muse is far superior to a wired one when used with a laptop.

Do you think I could compensate for the low 1250 DPI by increasing sensitivity? My G90 is 2500, and I've grown accustomed to it.

@nerdslayer1 has it. Don't know for how long though

You can change mouse sensitivity through Windows settings and most G peripherals lets you customize DPI through Logitech Gaming Software

  • How long would that be?
  • What are your impressions of it as far as build quality and usability goes?
  • Do you think it's a passable gaming mouse as well as a good productivity mask?
  • What do you think about the durability of the mouse?

I may invest in one as a long-term solution, and just put up with the double-click for the month it takes for the MX Master to ship here.

my impression is excellent so far as my use case goes, my wifes mouse had Bluetooth connection issue for the first week, problem disappeared randomly since then it has been perfect.

gaming would depend on game, i play civ, KSP and rarely play games like skyrim. for pure fps like CSGO no but for casual gaming yes. productivity would be the main reason i have it, i have no problem so far.

that's the main reason i have it, build and usability has been good, feels constable. you can use it without feeling like a cheaply made product.

my conclusion is its worth it on the long run for all use other than pro-CSGO players.

also don't buy razer naga or hex, my friend went through 6 in one year.

So almost as long as I've had my G90, then. Do you reckon it could go on for two more years?

I'm a very sporadic gamer, and there isn't a single shooter in my library aside from a few benchmark games (Metro) and story-driven games (BioShock). Games I do play a fair amount are Rocket League, The Witcher 3, a heavily modded skyrim, and some RPGs. The only shooter I play is Star Wars: Battlefront. If it works for casual gaming, it'll work for me.

Many people report a scroll wheel drifting issue after a few months of use. Have you encountered one?

Also, do you reckon the mouse's gaming performance (input lag, tracking consistency) is comparable to a really cheap G-series 'Gaming' mouse like my $7 G90?

All in all, this does seem like the mouse for me. I'll put some serious thought into the investment. Thank you for all your help!

i can't guarantee anything but it should depending on your use case, i personally haven't encountered the scroll wheel issue. i think it will be worth it in the long run. G90 vs a Mx masters is an unfair comparison.

How so? I think it's like comparing the best street bike to the worst mountain bike, and seeing if the street bike is a better mountain after all.

The G90 is a great mouse for the money, but as a mouse that's only sold in India and neighbouring poor countries? I'm pretty sure this is a parts bin product.

Or do you mean unfair as in- the MX Master is in a different league for everything.

1050ti is a good gpu but 1080ti is better. you will notice a difference, i haven't used g90 ,i can't give you a good comparison.

Yeah, but those are both gaming GPUs, and the G90 is a gaming mouse while the MX Master is not, although it is a far better mouse. I thought it was a justifiable comparison. Just like my volleyball shoes are so good that they're better for gym training than my crap gym shoes.

I've already decided on an MX Master, as it seems to be my best shot as having it last 4 years, which is also how I'll get my money's worth.
