hi guys..recently i bought RAM DDR4 2400 Avexir Core Siries 1 stick 8 GB due to the tight budject and rushing, back then im realize that is single channel ram, so now i want buy and add 1 more ram which is same type, i check in official avexir website that RAM is on single channel list. so here my question

1. how much difference between single channel vs dual channel ? (gaming only)

2.does it become dual channel when i add 1 more same stick siries?

3. should i sell this ram for getting dual channel type memory?

Sorry guys im afraid i will  waste my money for wrong item.

thanks LTT

1) not much

2) yes, the channels are based off the motherboard(if cpu supports) nothing to do with the ram stick

3) no, just buy another 8gb that is the same(preferably same model number) as your current one. ram itself isnt single or dual channel.

There's no such thing as a single channel RAM module. The number of channels is a feature of the system you plug it into, not the DIMMs themselves.

Memory becomes dual-channel when you install two matching DIMMs into the correct (usually alternating) slots of a motherboard that supports that particular feature.

1.Will not be that noticeable

2.Yes i myself running the same memory module as yours in Dual channel mode with 3 Dimm sticks installed.

3.No u can buy the same memory smash it in and it becomes dual channel however in some cases if u use different model or brand there's a chance that it wont work resulting in computer wont boot up or ram runs in single channel mode because of different frequency and timings. however u can modify the frequency and timings in the bios if its booted up.

Behold the power of Chuck Norris the forbidden one.

The difference is double the memory bandwidth. It's potentially up to twice as fast in memory-intensive tasks, but it doesn't usually make a big difference in most games. On the other hand, it doesn't really cost anything extra, it's more an issue of planning.

You could return the 8 GB stick and buy 2x4 GB, which gets you 8 GB by way of dual-channel, but that's up to you. Alternatively you could just hang on to the 8 GB stick for now and possibly add a second identical stick as an upgrade later on.
