Check Internet Connect Batch File

Hi, my desktop is doing this weird thing where when i download a big file i somehow lose my default gateway.  i want to make a batch file that checks for the internet connection and if it fails it launches the troubleshooter and makes it repair the stuff if needed.  does anyone know how to do this?
