I am currently trying to switch from chrome to edge on my notebook, because i noticed that it gives me way better battery life. But, one of the features i like most about chrome is that you can open a video in an new tab, without it starting to play until you klick on the specific tab. Does anyone know how to enable this feature in edge?

You're making the switch at the wrong time imo, chrome is vastly improving battery life with chrome 57, so watch out for changes to chrome :)

Chrome 57 is out so the battery life improvements are probably in place now, have you done a test with the new chrome?

Many tests online are with older versions of chrome ;)

I don't think it does that, I tried to do the same since my chrome got a virus but its just so trash, just try firefox cause edge is utter trash IMO.

Firefox isn't much/any better than chrome in the battery department, which is what OP is after. https://www.custompcreview.com/articles/chrome-vs-edge-vs-firefox-best-browser-battery-life/38926/

Maybe consider Opera. I have been very satisfied with it (minus very little and non-frequent bugs on video) and the battery life is awesome on both my laptops, way better than with Firefox/Chrome for what I know. And it has the feature you want. Make sure to enable economy mode and built-in ad blocker.

Opera is a chrome fork now

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Yes it does, if you read the post thats what he wants...

You read me wrong: I meant (in response to @Sauron) that even if Opera is a Chrome fork, this doesn't matter because Opera provides better battery life than Chrome.

I edited for clarification.

Thanks for all the answers. @mikat I know about chrome 57, but it in my testing, edge still uses noticably less battery. I would love to use chrome, but I get around 4 hours of battery life with it, compared to more than 6 with edge :/

:/ that's a pretty big difference, well stick to edge for now then, but hopefully the chrome team will optimize chrome to the point where it's competitive with edge soon :)
