So..... I had a slight accident with my Z97 Board with a Swifttech AIO cooler and shorted out my board.

So I was wondering if it would be better to get a Intel 6700k, Intel 7700k, or try to get a Ryzen 1700x or 1800x. Or is there a better option out there?

I'm looking to spend about $750 max.

Had similar issue, my Z97 mobo died. I ended up upgrading to Z170 along with new CPU and new RAM, because Z97 boards were barely available or very expensive.

Sorry, I forgot to mention an Aorus GTX 1080. But then again, I did send the card back twice for being defective.
