Upgrade recommendations

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

I'd go 1070 if you can afford one, especially if you are planing on keeping it for a while like you said.

I'm going to be upgrading my gpu soon and am torn on which to get. I will be moving up to 2560x1080 soon and plan to not upgrade anything for awhile following this final round of upgrade for my system. As for the help that I need is whether I should go with a 1070 or a 1060 6gb.      https://pcpartpicker.com/user/The_Leggionaire/saved/tLGhMp     this is my rig/ upgrade plan if anyone could weigh in it would help me make a decision. I'm going to be going with an EVGA card for the gpu's, either the 1070 in the pcpp list or this 1060   https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487275&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

if you want to not upgrade for a while i would get the gtx 1070 but i would recommend waiting for vega to release to see if there are price drops on the gtx 1070 or go with vega if its turns out to be good.

when is vega supposed to launch? ive been a bit out of the gup news as of late.

I'd honestly recommend waiting for VEGA or getting a 1070 if your budget will allow.

1070 was what my gut was saying but my wallet was really enticed about the 1060. my only problem with waiting for vega is the 1; complete unknown of its power 2; my current card is acting weird af.

yeah but that's part of the point of waiting. if vega causes the prices fo nvidia gpus to go down then it will automatically be worth the wait but it also could provide a grate alternative to the gtx 1070.

only thing with that is you could wait for ever to buy a new card. say i wait around for vega to launch and then nvidia announces their new line of cards ect. not bashing you, just well im impatient

yeah but the new nvidia gpu are much further away. also there are rumors of the Polaris update in April so it might be worth waiting for that as well.

yeah the polaris updates im probably gonna wait to see as long as it doesnt get delayed into oblivion. buy the second half of 2017 i think we may start hearing of new nvidia cards, if they keep their update cycles.
