First PC build - PSU advice welcome

Hey. I'm putting together my first ever gaming PC and could use some pointers for the PSU. This is the build I've currently got in mind (i7 6700k and GTX 1080):

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  (€341.99 @ Amazon Deutschland)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler  (€39.24 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  (€152.84 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  (€125.99 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (€97.57 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (€50.00 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Video Card  (€536.94 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  (€57.48 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow (Blue) 69.0 CFM  120mm Fan  (€6.51 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Monitor: Asus VG248QE 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor  (€267.76 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Total: €1700

My main questions are:

- Is 650w enough for this build? Can I get by with less or do I need more?
- Is the EVGA Supernova G2 the right choice? I've skimmed through the stickied threads here and while it's part of top tier in the "official" list, some people have told me it's pretty expensive and that I should go with, for example, an Ante High Current Gamer Series (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371047).
- Am I better off with full modular or semi (taking into account the price differences, of course)?

Thanks in advance. :)

650W should get you by just fine. As for the G2, it's a good PSU. I'm going to be using a G3 just cause that's what I want. As for if it is "the right choice" is (to an extent) entirely subjective. Different people have their favorite brands, or brands they may have had issues with. When it comes to modular vs semi, it's personal preference again.

you can see how many watts your system in the top right corner of pc part picker, so your system is only 400W, so yes 650w would be enough, but i would recommend getting a 500w one to save money.

G2 is a good PSU. Personally for a single 1080 you'd fine with 550w

I completely missed that feature on Pc Part Picker. Thanks for pointing it out.

A quality 550w would be plenty for such a system. I would pass on the Antec HCG-520 though.

I would recommend the:

Bitfenix Whisper 550M: https://geizhals.eu/bitfenix-whisper-m-550w-atx-2-4-bwg550m-bp-wg550umag-9fm-a1543231.html?hloc=de

Corsair RM550x: https://geizhals.eu/corsair-rmx-series-rm550x-550w-atx-2-4-cp-9020090-eu-a1331023.html?hloc=de

And if you are on a tight budget:

the Corsair Vengeance 550M: https://geizhals.eu/corsair-vengeance-550m-550w-atx-2-4-cp-9020111-de-a1405278.html?hloc=de

Need to go, so I didn't get the chance to look at all other options for you.

There are also several PSU calculators online that can help you determine how much you would need

This is definitely a personal preference on cable management, but I tend to go fully modular so I can ensure I only have cables that I'm using in the case...  Also, if you decide to get custom sleeved cables, it's easier than mixing some full custom cables and others that are extensions.

Yeah, I looked one up and gave it a go. Just wanted to double check and be sure. It asked for a lot of very detailed information which I wasn't entirely able to provide.

The G2 you chose is fine but why are you getting a 1080 for 144Hz 1080p gaming? A 1070 should be fine.

Because I am planning on getting a 1440p or even 4k monitor later down the line as well. I was originally going to go with a 1070, but I've now found the price difference to only be around 80-100€, which is worth it to me on one of (if not the) most important part of a build.

Also, since you don't have it included in your signature, is there anything wrong with the Corsair RMX (https://geizhals.eu/corsair-rmx-series-rm550x-550w-atx-2-4-cp-9020090-eu-a1331023.html?hloc=de)? According to one of your threads, the difference with the RMi is that it doesn't have Corsair Link compatibility and a Rifle bearing fan as opposed to a fluid dynamic bearing fan (superior) in the RMi. Is that a big difference? Or can you recommend a PSU that is better at around the same price? Thanks!

Yeah, I'll probably end up going for a 550w in the end. Thanks!

The RMx should be fine. I'd prefer the EVGA G3 myself.
