Hello everyone,

So recently my old laptop has been running out of steam regarding new games (Can barely run STEEP on medium settings), and cant handle media creation as well as I would like it to. Would there be any laptop that would satisfy the following criteria:

 - Somewhat good looking

 - Must be able to run adobe CC (Photoshop, premier pro)

 - Run recent games at decent settings

 - okay battery life

 - Be under or around $2,000 USD

Any suggestions are welcome!

(Also I am not able to get a desktop at the current moment so that is why I am looking for a laptop instead)

How much do you value performance to looks. Also what screen size?

You can get it cheaper on LPC Digital.

Another option is a GS63VR.

Finally, if you're a real power user that wants to tweak and tinker and fix, the AW15R3 series is pretty nice. I like the battery life. But the first one with a Prema bios will have the best performance by quite a bit.

One issue with locked Pascal vbios is that the 1070 on the AW is tdp limited. Can't keep it at high clocks sustained like 1750mhz whereas on unlocked Prema machines you can pull 2000mhz with proper cooling.

As long as it looks okay, it is fine. I prefer performance over looks. As for screen size, anything 15" or over would be great!

You could get the @Pendragon solution (or its larger brother if you want the larger screen) and get these upgrades

1. 7820hk

2. Cool laboratory ultra

3. 256gb ssd

4? possibly the 120hz tn panel?  Is the Tn worth it?

8086k Winner BABY!!

Out of curiosity, does hidevolution just get the computers from manufacturers and just upgrade the thermals and so on before shipping them to you?

I have two threads of my own regarding this problem, the best solution at time I found was Surfacebook and XPS 13 but if you can wait, then wait for Surfacebook Gen 2, it's worth hell a lot waiting .

My thread -

My research on surfacebook 2 , which may help you -

Yes. Thing is, they apply the liquid metal for you, AND give you warranty on it. So it's up to you. I personally never needed to order from them (cause Canadian but also I don't need help with repasting and taking apart entire laptops and putting it together again), but all my US friends do. It's also hassle free because when you order from a retailer like them, if shit goes wrong you deal with them and not Dell or Razer or Clevo or whoever it is. So to most people it's worth the little extra premium they charge ($50-$100). Also the GS63VR one is a custom chassis that as far as I know is only sourced to HID and Origin in the US. I like that chassis ALOT more than the original GS63VR one because it's just sleek back without the ugly MSI branding.

Is the only difference between both chassis the msi logo? Or is the chassis maybe stronger or has a more premium feel to it maybe?
