Need to make a decision, noob here.

Hi, I have a problem. I currently have an old FX 6300 paired up with a gigabyte 970a ds3p mobo. I would like to get a new CPU to pair it up with my new RX 480. I am currently low on cash so my two choices are the FX 8350 which wouldn't force me into buying new motherboard and RAM or an i3 such as 6100 or 7100 which is also quite cheap and it opens the door to an i5 or an i7 in the future ( I wouldn't be able to afford RAM and motherboard all at once though). I'd also like to point out that I'm not into overclocking, I only know the basic stuff about computers and I really don't want to mess up my hardware.

It would be great to get an i3 or i5 and possibly at least a Z-170-A motherboard, but if you can't afford that and the RAM, I'd go with an 8370 at the least. I used to own one and was able to get it to 4.7GHz at 1.35V and only maxed out at about 70C with a 212 EVO. It ran games great but when I got my 144hz monitor I upgraded to an i5 6600k, 32gb of ram and a Z-170-AR motherboard. The 8370 or 8350 should be great, but only if you overclock. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

If you're going to buy an Intel CPU on a budget, don't buy an i3. Look into the G4560, which is the ultimate budget CPU right now.

Yes, of course. I will play games such as the new Mass Effect and Witcher 3. In a few months I will be able to get myself a new i5 but I need to make a hold with a budget CPU until then.

I don't have any money at the moment, I just bought a GPU. But I make about 400$ a month. I'll either take the Pentium or just stick it out with the FX 6300 until the summer.
