My motheboard is ASUS P5KPL/EPU and GPU i want to buy nVidia GT640 or maybe GTX650. So could you tell me what you think to know from where to start upgrade my comp. sys.

I have the Gigabyte 650Ti in one of my other computers, it runs most games very nicely.

What power supply have you got?

CPU: Intel Core i5 2450M @ 2.5Ghz RAM: 8GB GPU: HD Radeon 7470M (Potato) Mobo: No idea, probably a pumpkin.

My computer is a laptop.

BF3 on minimum settings = 25fps @ 720p

if your going to upgrade, dont skimp on the graphics card, i recommend not going any less then the 650ti, but i would personally recommend a 7950 or 7970 alot better bang for the buck if you can afford it

The combination of your motherboard and the GTX 650 should work as the PCI Express generations are backwards compatible but it may not provide the best performance as your board only supports PCI Express 1.0 so the bandwidth available is lower than PCI Express 2.0 or 3.0.

CODEGEN 500 W

Your motherboard looks a little bit old, the CPU (LGA775) may bottleneck your performance...

That power supply is enough for the 650Ti.

What CPU do you have and how much RAM do you have?

If your on a tight budget the 7870 is a good performer, if you can stretch to 7950 it will be worth it, problem is it may bottleneck....

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300

I would recommend a new build...new cpu, mobo, gpu, ram, possibly keep psu, HDD and case

Yeah, your current system may bottleneck your performance in games.

But if you really wanted to you could get a 640 or a 650. I wouldn't go spending lots of money on a GPU now, save up and build a computer from scratch.

You should upgrade to a better card than the GTX 650 but like what others are saying the problem is the bottleneck that will happen due to old componenets. It's better to upgrade everything.

Examples for budget builds: Both are around $400-$500 *NOTE: These are only examples so feel free to change parts to your liking*

You are better of just going for a new build when you can afford it… A GT640 isn´t even meant for gaming at all...

Well guys Im from Bulgaria, which means that the comp. components here are between 10% and 40% more expensive then in USA or west europe and also for now i can spend not more then 400-450$ and from reading your sugestions i have to save more to build properlly my computer.

while this is true he has stated hes limited by budget and was only gonna be able to do it part by part but ybrik's suggestions are both very good options as both will give him a tangible increase in his experience without breaking the bank

I would maybe mix them tho and go with the second set but swap for the apu and mobo compo but drop it down to a higher lined a6 than the low a8 or go with an Athlon/phenom x4-x6 and the am3/am3+ platform if he has a bit more to spend these days especialy intel hasn't offered much in my opinion for the budget range

but you are right as well if he can do a 1000 then he can throw these out the window lol

should work out just fine aslong as you have a psu that can power it :)

im not familiar with codegen psus but if its capable of doing close too 500w and has at least 1 6pin for your gpu I would go with a 7770-7790 as they have a great price to proformance ratio and would be able to open up a little bit more as you upgrade around it but the 640 especialy is not very good were as the 650 is a contender even tho the 650ti is much better it is a bit more

id recommend svaing for a decent gpu, getting that first, since you will be able to use that now, while you save up for the rest of your build, grab the motherboard and cpu the next, then psu/ram in my honest opinion

So you think it isn't going to be a big issue if I buy and run only the gpu for a short time of period till I buy the other components?

i dont think it will be a problem, its either that or buy a psu now, maybe  650 watt, and put that into your system then get the gpu a bit later, this way you wont have to worry at all
