Shadow play

Pauleh

Hello LTT,

I was helping a friend update his drivers and download shadow play, when I found that he couldn't use it, despite his specs listed as being compatible. I have no idea why this won't work and Nvidia's site provides no clarification. Please help.

Agreed. I believe you need a GTX graphics card to run shadowplay. Sorry man.

However, I recommend you use OBS or MSI afterburner's built in capture software, both are very good.

Thanks for the help guys!

Awful silly that this card does not include nvenc. It's kinda misleading too, as you would think that the 840m would be included under 700m and higher not GTX 700m series and higher.

What do you expect? a GT 840M is not designed for gaming.

Idk man, It's not mine. It seems runs GTA 5 and any other games that we play together just fine. My friend bought it as apart of a budget gaming laptop by MSI because he travels alot, so I wouldn't say that it's designed for playing youtube videos or working on your favorite excel document. I'd say it's on par with a R7 240 (or a bit better, a theoretical R7 240x, but not better than a R7 250). Not everyone can afford a 4790k and a 1070...

The GT 840M is capable of gaming. I still remember playing titanfall on my GT 540M (low settings 720P 30fps), but hey it was playable.

I wouldn't say it's not a gaming card, the GT models are designed more towards very light gaming/multimedia/hardware acceleration functions. It's the lower ones below the GT series that I'd say are not designed at all for gaming.
