Ok guys I'm having some really frustrating problems with Win 10 Pro (who isn't!) as my USB ports have a tendency to reset themselves, or thats what it seems.

Most, if not all of my peripherals i.e. steering wheel, webcam, controller etc... disconnect and reconnect randomly, more so when they're being used. My steering wheel will have fits and spats both in and out of games where it makes the disconnection and reconnection noises and then proceeds to reinstall drivers as if it's a new piece of hardware I've just plugged in. Similar thing with my new Razer Stargazer webcam, I'll be streaming and then it'll just get knocked out and won't come back on again until I restart the application using it and then last about another 30secs before getting knocked out again.

I've scoured several websites that claim to fix the problem I'm having, from individually turning off the power save settings for the ports, changing the power save settings completely to stop any power saving, to even resetting the USB registry and with no luck!

My computer is a custom build but never see any other custom builders experience this problem, or not mention it in any case. Any light you could shed on my situation would be most appreciated! :)

What's you're specs dude? Might be worth loking for any USB drivers for your motherboard, I know mine has a dicky USB controller that sometimes causes issues.

i7 5930k

MSI x99a Gaming 7

32gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz

240gb Crucial MX200 SSD

480GB HyperX Savage SSD

2tb Seagate hdd

If it helps at all, I did send Microsoft a rather colourful email and all they advised me was to check to see if the USB 3.0 was disabled in bios, which I checked and there wasn't anything specific for 3.0 just to turn the usb controllers off completely.

Hmm so after a little research, I did find another guy with the same issue, only affecting some of the ports. Some things to try would be uninstalling the drivers under device manager, the restarting.

Beyond that, remove the drivers again, shut down, remove all USB devices, clear the CMOS (unplug from power for about 10-20 mins) then restart.
