Hey All,

I currently have an ASUS monitor with a max refresh rate of 75hz. When playing WoW I can average 60fps not a problem but then in a raid it drops significantly (sometimes to single digits). I am in the middle of upgrading my computer from Athalon 64 x2 and GeForce 9600 to an i5 7600k with RX 480 and don't have the funds to also include a monitor. My question is this: with an upgraded system that will be able to handle more FPS than the monitor can handle, when it gets to the times when it is visually intensive, will I still be able to maintain that 60FPS?

Thanks.

Speaking from personal experience, I am almost positive that build will be able to handle a constant 60fps for WoW, I regularly build WoW machines for people with significantly less hardware than that and they are fine. I personally do not play it though.

The monitor will have no impact on that. A 7600K and RX 480 should be able handle 60FPS WoW easily. That said, I have encountered some MMOs where it's the game engine that gets overwhelmed rather than hardware, so dips in FPS may be unavoidable (not single digits, though).
