Which motherboard? Maybe read up mobo spec sheet or manual, it should tell

I remember hearing something about quick charging phones etc with mobo I'm just not sure how it works. Do I need a special motherboard or do I just need to application that can detect it.

Sorry that this is really vague

It's just USB ports on the motherboard that deliver more current than the 500ma supplied as standard. It will usually be 1 amp or so, and it cannot be done in software as it's hardware based

It means to not be lazy and look up your vendor to get specs vs having someone who doesn't have that motherboard doing the exact same thing.

Or even looking in the rear and see if anything is labeled.

Or even plugging up your phone and see if it says quick charging.

It's not that difficult to do either of these things.
