RAM Compatibility

I currently have 16gb of HyperX Savage DDR3 1866MHz CL9 ram on my b85 Pro from asus with an i7 4790. (2x8gb sticks)

I also have 2 four gig sticks of HyperX savage 2400mhz CL11 lying around.

I do not directly need the extra ram, though i dont see why not. I know the MOBO only supports upto 1600MHz ram anyways, though it would just run at the speed of the slowest dimm. What I'm wondering is if the CAS latency difference between the two (CL9 and CL11) can be bypassed in any way?

no, other than overclocking the slower Dimm to the speed of the faster one.

Chances are because you will be running it at a slower speed you can get the CL to go down.

Probably, but like any overclocking it is really luck of the draw

Yep, it's like the lottery, but instead of your chance of losing money, you may lose your ram, or worse case, your PC.

If i just try to install it without messing with anything, and then run a stability test would i risk damaging anything?

No. If you just plop it in they will run at all of the slower speeds, so it will be 1866 CL11 (assuming your board can run at that)

Board is limited to 1600mhz, does that have anything to do with the CL?

Nope, it should run at 1600mhz Cl11 standard.
