motherboards are quite sturdy, but for few dollars more Asus is really nice

Fair enough,

Any Asus B250 boards you'd recommend?

Am I right in assuming that quad cores are better at handling multiple programs being open (excel, quickbooks, tac program, chrome, etc.) better than a dual core w/ HT can?

MSI and Gigabyte also have three year warranties.

Yes, quad cores are better, but tbh an i3 (/G4560) is also usually more than enough.

So basically a desktop cpu will be more than capable for the jobs i need.

I'll look, it might be worth it for an extra $20 to get the Gigabyte Mobo over the Asrock, due to a better warranty.

Won't run into any troubles by using skylake on the b250 compared to a kabylake? Don't have a spare cpu to do updating bios or anything of the sort.

Edit: Nvm, thought you meant a i5-6500 cpu.

What's the difference between the 7500 and 7600 though? Never actually realized there was 2 kabylake locked i5's.

A 7500 is still Kaby Lake.

But, Skylake works perfectly fine on any 200 series board without the need for a bios update. It's Kaby Lake CPUs on a 100 series board that potentially require a bios update.

Ahh okay, any major differences between the 7500 and 7600? $30 price difference, so I imagine there is something.

edit: Looks like the only difference, is the 7600 has a slightly faster chip, and has a slightly faster IGPU?

Out of curiousity any tablets that would be able to compete with this build, and be around the price point? Only 1 I can think of, that might, is a Surface, which is ~$1000.

Hmm.. wierd.. my boss runs his pc off a docked surface I think. Ik it's a docked tablet. But I like the idea of easy upgradeability, and something that is the best bang for you buck, since you don't have to pay for someone to assemble it. and I don't mind assembling it at home and bringing it to work, or spending a lunch hour throwing it together.

May as well get a G4560 instead and save another $70. With an H110 board and KL you risk needing to do a bios update. You're better off getting a single 8gb stick so you can add more in the future.

You'd actually be surprised at some programs, for instance our book-keeping program, looks not intensive, but due to a ton of background processes, it basically can be a pain to run.

Also, when it comes to larger files, having that extra oomph would come in handy, or so I think.

May as well get a G4560 instead and save another $70. With an H110 board and KL you risk needing to do a bios update. You're better off getting a single 8gb stick so you can add more in the future.

No, the i3 is more powerful. Granted on the BIOS upgrade potential, but the working BIOS shipped late last year so it shouldn't be a problem. I have yet to encounter a situation in which one needed to upgrade memory on an office system during its useful life.

You'd actually be surprised at some programs, for instance our book-keeping program, looks not intensive, but due to a ton of background processes, it basically can be a pain to run.

Also, when it comes to larger files, having that extra oomph would come in handy, or so I think.

I3 are pretty powerful cpu. They have hyperthreading which makes them very good at multitasking. In fact they are better performers than cpu in most laptops, including the latest generation of laptop cpu.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Ic, it is an option if my boss wants it to be cheaper, since it'd drop by $100 or so.
