For my Dremel Sawmax which has a 12mm hole for the wheels, I buy generic wheels that have a hole of 9.5mm Mastercraft or Lowes sells one that is 10mm called Gator.

I just use my rotary tool to widen the the 9.5mm hole to 12mm but I am getting tired of doing that.

I was hoping there is a way or a product I can buy that adapts. Obviously Dremel did this on purpose but their wheels are just so much more expensive.

Currently I do not have a welder, or any tap and die tools. If I did then I could easily drill a 12mm hole on the end of pipe cap, drill a 9.5mm hole on the end of another pipe cap, weld or thread. I do have some transformers laying around which I could DIY a crude welder which is an idea. There has got to be a hack, as the cool kids say, for this. I do need a bit of length to get over the guard, Then instead of always using 3" diameter wheels, I then can use larger wheels and custom make my own guard.

I am not the best in using the search function, but the only thing that came remotely close is the Dremel SM600 which is made for flush cuts. See how its raised, that is in order to get over the guard. I was thinking I could hack the piece up somehow, but again I would need a welder, but its sort of the same idea as the end caps for pipes.Disco de Corte Multiuso para Saw-Max SM500 2615S500NA Dremel

This idea below could work, but I only have basic household tools.

No mechanical people in the forum I see, I've been thinking about this, and I think I may have a couple solutions.

1) Use high PSI epoxy to bond the 2 pipe end caps together

2) have one pipe end cap slide into the other, believe its called coupling, then bolt them together

3) rent a welder by the hour from a DIY automotive shop, or a place like Hertz Equipment rental has stick arc welders for rent

4)

Yes, nothing stock will be able to couple, there is metal stock that is telescopic (one slides into the other) but stuck with open ends. Couplers for that I dont know and doubt there are.

copper pipe would work and Home Depot sells that

fence post has end caps but would be too wide

electrical conduit would have end caps which is an option

Just trying to think of everything and anything that would have end caps.

Issue is I need to be able to bolt down the 12mm side and to have it all enclosed would mean problems a) bolting it to the dremel, b) using the stock bolt down bolt/washer, can be over done by a allen key with the washer epoxied, can slide the allen key through the 10mm side easy enough.

This needs more pondering, but please if anyone has any other idea's that would be great, post them.

Update

I pondered it in the aisles of Home Depot, Galvanized section of piping aisle, got me 2 end caps and some threaded stuff, 3/8" bolt, nut, washer

Heres a picture, just gotta center the drill hole and shave down the ends so it sits flush, dunno how to secure it all in place. The 3/8" bolt head will need rounding off to fit inside the cap properly and shaved down a touch to get more threads engaged. They are tapered threads, meaning the threads are deeper the further in.

With it spinning at 10k to 15k rpm, I gotta make sure its secured and balanced, grinding down the grip ridges and 3/8 marking is easy enough to do. Thread sealer and teflon tape, then lots of steel epoxy. Should be a good little project for tomorrow. Hopefully I can use bigger 4" wheels without no issues.
