Video editing cpu

Hello,

i plan on a build with a limited budget of about 2 grand.  I want to make videos in both 1080 and 4k then edit them.  I am torn between an Intel i7 with 4.2ghz 4 core (Kaby Lake) or a 3.6ghz 6 core (Broadwell) I really want the speed, but I also want the cores.  Ultimately I'm not spending over $600 so a Xeon is out of the picture.  This is my first video editing machine, not my first computer build. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Scrap that.. get a Ryzen 1700x or 1800x. They mop the floors with these tasks with Intel.

Literally they put the ryzen line up out with 8 cores for video editing and gameplay.

Along those lines would blow the water out of anything other than 6950X from intel for less than the CPU alone - of course I don't know if you need to add anything to this to complete your build
