Hi various forum users,

I'm trying to set up a file server for my various PC's to backup too. Currently, I'm running Windows Server 2016 off of a virtual machine on one of the aforementioned PC's. I want to grant access to another PC to the share to test before actually deploying the server. How do I do that? Is there any port-forwarding involved?

Thanks,

-Fish

Right click folder, share, go to advanced, something along the lines of edit permissions, add a user, go to client pc windows explorer, go to \\(ip address of server), use the same username/password

My native language is C++

Are you trying to access it from the PC you're hosting the VM on?

Since it is virtual, your server probably isn't connected to the same network as the rest of your PC's.
