cant install drivers

silver_tounge

so i tried to install the newest nvidia driver for my new 1070 founder edition abouty 6 hours agho and have had no luck. i have tried every guide and suggestion online and they have all failed. the updates fail and i cant even install old updates anymore .

any suggestions?

What is the specific error you're getting? Need more context.

What error comes up?

 

Try: 

- taking out the card

- checking power connection

- check PSU connections if you have a modular PSU

its saying all the installs failed when i try to install the updates. that all it says. install failed

its only giving me the option to install the latest driver through geforce experience. just testing now

I had a problem updating my drivers with geforce before. I just downloaded the new driver directly off their website and that worked. Did you try it that way too?

try this, uninstall the driver completely than try to reinstall it. I would advise making a restore point in case this fails too.

also have you tried going to a restore point as far back as possible than trying to install the driver again or is this a brand new pc?

i think i might do a clean install tomorrow morning and see if that works.

I assume you run as admin when doing the install? It could be a registry issue that's causing the failed install. Maybe search online for a solution if it's a known issue, otherwise, a fresh reinstall should fix this problem too bad there's no quick fix for it.

thats what i was thinking. ill try some more in safe mode but if not fresh install tomorrow
