Does anyone know if it is still possible to get a legit copy of windows XP and if so where? I would like to get one for an old potato laptop.

I'm not 100% sure.  Maybe kinguin?
But why not just put Linux instead?  It'd still be supported (at least Ubuntu would), so you'd have to worry less about security issues.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

If you have a product key you should still be able to get it. I would use linux though.

I don't think Linux support's Age of empire's or Red alert. But if it does I'll take Linux

I'm not sure.  I just use Linux just to dink around it form time to time for fun.  Don't know what games are supported on it.

As far as I know, you can't "steal" a license per say as it's tied down to your specific computer. Unless someone else got a hold of the key, and called Microsoft to activate it on another machine.

Lots of Windows XP dics and licenses can be bought through eBay for just a dollar.

Also, if the product is no longer sold, and hasn't been sold for years, maybe the abandonware principle applies. I dunno.
