Question: my old 750gb hard drive unfortunately failed, (only used about 300gb) and I need a new storage device. I am wondering if I should break my bank and get a new ssd, or buy a hard drive for it to eventually fail again. I am on a pretty tight budget, so I'd prefer it to be under $200. Thank you for all input in advance!

ssds can fail as well. 200$ is a lot, you can probably get a 2tb hdd and a 250gb ssd.

I already have a 128gb ssd to boot and for core programs, but I need a mass storage to dump games into. I'm just scared that another hard drive will fail, I only used that one for about 2 years before it failed.

Get a 240gb SSD+as big of a hard drive as you can afford. If you've never had an SSD it'll blow you away.

both HDDs and SSDs can and inevitably will fail. Just do regular backups to prevent any catastrophic data loss. I would recomend getting a 2tb hdd, they are only about 75$.

I would get the cheapest 1tb 7200rpm HDD I can find if its a desktop, but notebooks/laptops I am never using HDD again, ssd only I had enough with the slightly impacts killing it.

The oldest HDD I own is a 320gb Seagate Barracuda with 5 years of run time on it.
