So I have a  16 gb of ram a i5 4460 and a R9 390

I'm playing 1080p 144hz

Get another gpu or upgrade to ryzen r5 when it comes out

What would you do?

Get a better GPU. I think in most games the i5 will not hold you back at all for the foreseeable future. Not to start that debate, but especially if Ryzen gaming performance does not improve, Ryzen would not really be an upgrade from the i5.

The R9 390 is still a good card, but it might start getting a bit older. You'll definitely see improvement going to a GTX 1070 or 1080 or higher. Its barely faster than a 1060 or RX480 though, so if you want to upgrade, you'll have to spend some money.

I would wait for vega and see what happens. The r9 390 is still a very good card.

Honestly I would wait for a bit. The R9 390 is still a good performing card to this date. Like maartendc said, only a GTX 1070 would be worth as a next step. Your i5 4460 should be enough for indeed the foreseeable future. Though in some games it might be a small bottleneck. (Badly ported games or highly CPU intensive games) Though the games which would cause this are in very small numbers. Especially with DX12 getting implemented better and better I expect to see a lower cpu usage as a trend for the next few years.

Vega shouldnt be taking to long to come out. Not sure when, but I believe it was somewhere in this year (Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong). It will be worth the wait. Especially if it is going to be just as competitive as Ryzen is, you would see price drops in overall.

But if you don't have the patience, then go for a GTX 1070/1080.
