Well once again another unfinished product has been released to the public. The switch in concept is a great idea but many key features need to be added (Bluetooth, Better joycon layout, better power efficiency and higher internal storage) Using the system myself I can tell you the product is half assed and remains a complete failure. I could understand if there were a few issues at launch like most systems but this is honestly stupid. Graphical bugs, artifacts, card registration and the fucking joycon wrist strap thing can get fucking stuck and need a tool to pry it off. In conclusion this product is lacking in so many departments with no actual consideration with real world use and user error. Here are "some" issues that have occured in only a few days....   Also look at this shit.... Nintendo says dead pixels are "normal" and it's our problem if it comes with the device. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/mar/06/nintendo-switch-dead-pixels-console

Most? If it's a factory defect most would have it fixed or exchanged so that's bullshit. A defective product is a defective product. If I purchase a console that is damaged or not functioning correctly I get a refund or a new one.

I've only seen one report saying that, meanwhile it's been sold out everywhere, I've seen several reports of it selling well. Gamestop reports it stelling well, and apparently they sold 80,000 units in the first weekend (compared to 40,000 Wii U sales).

But they wouldn't. You can specifically buy monitors that have dead pixel "insurance" (dell's U series for example). @GoodBytes

the fact of the matter is that this product is early and should have been released at the end of the year with user testing and proper game releases.

I'm not saying the Switch launch isn't without its issues, and the game selection is abysmal. But the fact is, that most manufacturers will tell you to fuck off if you complain about a dead pixel or two (if you have hundreds, then it's a different story).

this is a product with low pixel density screen a few dead pixels are defintley an issue if you're staring at a screen that close. If it was one on a monitor I could see why a company could be hesitant but a handheld console like this with a dead pixel or two could be infuriating. That's not what I'm even mad about. The fact NINTENDO said that a dead pixel is "normal" is Horse shit. With such a lackluster launch they should recall the devices and continue to rework them honestly. Nintendo keeps doing things like this and drives me further away from the brand.

It is normal for the industry.

During LCD manufacturing process, it is not uncommon for one or more sub-pixels to become fixed in an unchanging state. A display with a 1 to 5 fixed sub-pixel is considered normal and within industry standards.

I've had asus and benq return my monitors for low dead pixel counts so regardless of that It's still an issue.

And I'm sure Nintendo will also replace your Switch if you complain enough (or you could just go to any retailer and exchange it). None of that changes the fact that it is considered the industry standard and that it is perfectly acceptable to have a up to five dead pixels. Most manufacturers have the same policy. So, unless you plan on berating all of them, then shhh.

I'll agree to that. But I personally don't think that should be the standard. I for one am irked by even one dead pixel so It could be preference. Most of the time the retailer will replace or refund but I don't like the language they use for it being a normality.

Final verdict. The Nintendo switch once again is a fine concept that still needs a lot of tweaking to become a truly enjoyable handheld/home console experience. This is the last Nintendo product I will be purchasing and will be returning the product asap. Be wary of the issues that come with the device and if you're contempt with the some of the hurdles you may come to with the device then so be it. I just wish more testing was done. Otherwise have fun gaming yall!

You can not like the wording and not like it being considered the standard, but that doesn't change the fact that the entire views it as the standard. Nintendo is just following the path laid out by LCD manufacturers.

Asus' policy:

Quote

Since LCD panel is made up of millions of micro electronic pixels, if one pixel no longer functions normally, it will become a bright or dark dot. By ISO 13406-2 standards, ASUS conforms to the acceptance level between 3 to 5 defective bright/dark pixels. In order to deliver ultimate vision experience to ASUS customer, if your panel is less than or equal to the above number of dots, then, it is considered as an acceptable LCD monitor. In addition, the Premium Range of ASUS LCDs offers a unique Zero Bright Dot (ZBD) warranty. Please refer to ASUS LCD Monitor Bright/Dark Dot Warranty Table below.

Once again I understand that. But I look at that "I" do not like the standard and in combination with all the other issues with the device I think a dead pixel constitutes a refund for a half assed product.  And that's the end of it :D

I dont have any of these problems... no crashes, artifacts, joycon connection problems, or anything like that. The layout is actually very comfortable for me if I take the joycons out and have them separated in each hand. And with the joycon strap, it is not super easy to take it off but even though I did put it there upside down once, I did not need a pry tool to take it off. Also the manual doesn't really mention it well, but you dont need to press the release button on joycon to get the strap off. The easiest motion is to slide the joycon off the strap, not the otherway around. (And dont forget the lock on the bottom)

As I said, I dont have any problems with it, everything works perfectly. The only thing I dont like is the low amount of games available atm and the insane prices... 50 euros for Bomberman?!

It's to be said that some people have no issues at all or are contempt with how the device is made. I for one despise the joycon layout and when i slide the straps on a certain way it's pretty much stuck there. I also HATE the fact there is no Bluetooth connectivity due to the fact we are moving to more wireless solutions for many of our products. At this needs to be said. Why place the charger at the bottom? I want to charge it in tabletop mode. Why can't I do that without buying an addon?  And the absurd prices for the games will stay that way for a loooooong time.
