SPECS:

 

CPU: Xeon X5460 (overclocked to around 4GHz)

Motherboard: ASUS P5Q SE (w/ LGA 775 to LGA 771 mod)

RAM: 4 x 2GB DDR2

Heatsink: Generic Cooler Master Heatsink

Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 600W Power Supply

Hard Drive: WD Blue 500GB HDD

GPU: TBD (either AMD 6000 series or 7000 series GPU)

SSD: TBD

 

I am planning to use this system for some light gaming, video and photo editing, and some multi-tasking. Please let me know if there are any issues.

According to Userbenchmark, it has +11% performance (not significant but I'll take it). Also, the Q9550 is more expensive.

From what I could see on ebay the X5460 was ~ $15 US and the q9550 is ~ $30 US. Last I looked the mod for 775 to 771 was $10 so the price is similar and the q9550 is designed to overclock. With all this said this is 100% personal preference, either option should work.

That's true, I didn't factor in things like the sticker I need but I will take anything that gives me more performance for cheaper.
