Hi,

I bought a used cpu (i7-4790K) 2 months ago. I flashed my bios to the proper version (I tried 3 different versions) with MSI M-Flash. After that i tried to install Windows 10 with a usb drive and the Windows Media Creation Tool. But Windows does not go beyond the screen with the blue Windows logo. I used 3 different usb drives to make sure that they are not causing the problems but that didnt work out either.

When i put my old cpu (i5-4670K) back in my pc everything worked fine and Windows 10 could be installed without any problems.

The strange thing is that when i tried to install Windows 7 along with the i7 everything worked fine...

So i brought my pc to a local pc store and they said after some 'research' that my mainboard was broken. So I send it to MSI for repair and i got a new one today, but the Windows 10 install still hangs at the screen with the blue logo.

The things i tried:

Multiple version of the bios

Multiple flash drives

Tried to install it with one memory stick

New mainboard

Used rufus to make a bootable drive

Used the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool but the i7 was fine

My pc:

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming

Intel i7-4790K (my old cpu was the i5-4670K)

Samsung 840 evo 120gb ssd

Corsair Vengeance pro 2x4gb

Evga GTX 970

Corsair cx750m

Thank you in advance,

PotatoChip

@PotatoChip make sure you are not using a USB3 port. some of the chipsets for USB3.0 do not play well with generic drivers and can cause all kinds of issues.

I tried every usb port on my mainboard (3.0 and 2.0) so that shouldnt be the issue. I also tried to install it with minimal peripherals but that didnt work out either.
