What cpu should I buy?

Yes! High end systems like an i7 6700K and 1080 SLI only consume about 350 - 400 watts. Power consumption is highly overrated and PSU calculators available online don't help much (because many of them over-estimate the amount of watts to cover their asses). Go for an i7 7700K and overclock the hell out of it, trust me, it won't draw more than 110W worst case scenario (and please buy a good cooler, you'll even be fine with a 6700K but the 7700K runs a little hotter due to higher clock speeds and denser packing of transistors). Hope it helped

Currently I have an i5 4690K. It gets the job done. But I am wanting to play arma 3 smoother, And more importantly stream. I have next to no knowledge on cpu's so I don't know what im looking for. I have a budget of around 350 USD. For the cpu alone. So what would you recommend me buy? Should I wait for intels 8th generaton, or go with kaby lake. I am ruling out ryzen because of the higher single core performance from intel (Single core performance is really important in arma). Also side note, I am currently running an i5 4690k, a 1070, 850 evo, HDD and 16 gigs of gddr3 (that would be gddr 4 on the new motherboard) on a 600W psu. Should I also upgrade my PSU before I do the cpu upgrade? Thanks for the help! :D

And more than 4 cores is very important for streaming! I'd get a 1700 or maybe wait for a Ryzen 5 CPU.

Actually, that would be DDR3/4 because GDDR(x) memory is designed mostly for graphics cards.

Yes, assuming it's a good PSU and not a left over POS from some crappy system builder and 5 years old.

He said he had a 600W PSU, even if it was 80 Plus Bronze it's still plenty for an i7 and a single GPU. Pascal is also very power efficient

This has NOTHING to do with PSU quality... a PSU could be 80+Titanium or Platinum and still be shit.

I brought up efficiency to state the fact that even if the whole 600W weren't available, the system's power consumption wouldn't even come close 600W at 80% efficiency. I don't know the brand or model of his PSU and it wasn't relevant for my answer (yes, if it's shit I wouldn't even wanna hook it up to the shittiest processor because I would be afraid of suddenly taking it down to its grave lol)
